Insurance
At Mindset Psychology, we believe getting the right support shouldn't come with a side of insurance confusion. We're in-network with 8 major carriers, so you can focus on what matters: your mental health. Here's everything you need to know about using your plan with us.
In-Network Insurance
We want care to be as accessible as possible, which is why we’ve worked hard to be in-network with some of the most widely used insurance plans in New York. Being in-network means your sessions are billed at a lower, pre-negotiated rate, which translates to real savings for you at every appointment.
Mindset Psychology currently accepts Aetna, Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Oxford Health Plans, Oscar, Carelon, and Providence.
Every plan is a little different, and your out-of-pocket cost will depend on whether you’ve met your deductible and what your specific copay or coinsurance is. Under federal mental health parity laws, most insurance plans are required to cover therapy at rates comparable to regular medical visits, so your mental health care deserves the same treatment as any other part of your health.
A few things worth knowing: Oxford Health Plans operates as part of United Healthcare, so if your card says Oxford, you’re fully covered through our UHC in-network agreement. Carelon Behavioral Health was previously known as Beacon Health Options. If your insurer uses Carelon to administer behavioral health, you’re in-network with us. And if you’re on a Cigna employer plan that routes through Evernorth or Lyra Health, session limits may apply separately. Give our office a call, and we’ll sort it out with you before your first appointment.
Not sure what your plan includes? Flip your insurance card over and call the member services number, ask specifically about outpatient mental health benefits. Or save yourself the hold music and call our team directly. We’re happy to verify your benefits before you commit to anything. At Mindset Psychology, the goal is to put your mind in good hands, and that starts from the very first call
Out-of-Network Benefits
We know it can be disappointing to find out your insurance isn't on our in-network list. But that doesn't always mean therapy is out of reach, and we want to help you understand your options before you walk away.
If you have a PPO or POS plan, there's a good chance you have out-of-network benefits for mental health care. This means your insurer may reimburse you for a percentage of your session cost, even when seeing a provider outside their network. The reimbursement won't cover everything, but for many patients it makes a real and meaningful difference.
Here's how it works with us. You pay for your session at the time of your appointment, and at the end of each month, we provide you with a superbill, a detailed, itemized receipt with all the diagnostic and billing codes your insurer needs to process your claim. You submit it to your insurance company, and they send reimbursement directly to you. We make the superbill easy to understand and quick to submit, because we know your time matters.
Before assuming you can't afford to come see us, it's worth making one phone call to your insurer to understand what your plan actually covers. When you call, ask these questions: Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health visits? What is my deductible, and has it been met? How many sessions per year does my plan cover? What percentage of the session fee will be reimbursed? And what is the process for submitting a claim?
In many cases, patients are surprised to find their out-of-network benefits are more generous than they expected. If you'd rather not navigate that conversation alone, our front desk team is glad to walk through it with you. We never want cost to be the reason someone doesn't get the support they need; that's just not who we are.
Insurances
We accommodate a wide range of insurance providers. Should you have questions about your coverage, don't hesitate to reach out for further details.
How to Get Started
Taking the first step toward therapy takes courage. We want to make everything that comes after that step as simple and stress-free as possible, including the insurance part.
Here’s how it works when you’re ready to begin. Start by calling our office at 516-208-2638 or reaching out through our website. Let us know what insurance you have, and our team will verify your benefits before your first appointment. We’ll confirm whether you’re in-network, walk you through what your plan is likely to cover, and give you a clear picture of your out-of-pocket cost so there are no surprises when you arrive.
Not sure which therapist is right for you? We offer a free 15-minute consultation to help you find the right fit before committing to care. Our team of psychologists, therapists, nurse practitioners, and dietitians each bring their own strengths and specialties , from anxiety and depression to ADHD, trauma, couples therapy, and beyond. We take the time to match you with someone who genuinely fits your needs and your personality.
If you’re in-network, we handle billing directly with your insurer. You’ll pay your copay or coinsurance at the time of your session, and we take care of the rest. If you’re out-of-network, we’ll make sure you receive a complete superbill at the end of each month so you can submit for reimbursement without any hassle.
We also offer telehealth appointments for patients across New York, Texas, Virginia, Delaware, Colorado, Wisconsin, and Arizona, so wherever you are, quality care is within reach.
At Mindset Psychology, we put our patients first, always. That means experienced professionals, personalized treatment plans, and a team that genuinely cares about your progress. Whether you’re just beginning your mental health journey or looking for a practice that truly sees you, we’re here, and we’re ready. Call us today, and let’s take that first step together.
