Medication Management
At Mindset Psychology, our medication management services aim to ensure that psychiatric medications are part of a balanced and effective mental health treatment plan. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, or other conditions, our team is dedicated to providing you with personalized and compassionate care.
What is Medication Management?
Medication management is a structured and careful process in which psychiatric medications are prescribed, monitored, and adjusted according to your specific mental health needs. Our service goes beyond merely writing prescriptions; it involves continuous assessment to ensure that the chosen medications are effectively working and are appropriate for your condition. The goal of medication management is to improve your mental health while minimizing any potential side effects or risks. Our team of experts are dedicated to regularly reviewing your progress, adjusting treatment when necessary, and providing you with the guidance you need to feel supported on your path to wellness.

Who Can Benefit from Medication Management?
Anyone experiencing mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or ADHD can benefit from thoughtful and professional medication management. Our approach ensures that medications are used safely and effectively to support your overall well-being, rather than serving as the only focus of care. We take the time to understand your unique symptoms, medical history, and goals, allowing us to create a plan that fits your specific needs.
Our team works closely with you to integrate medication into a broader, holistic treatment plan that may also include therapy, self-care strategies, and lifestyle adjustments. This combination helps address both the biological and emotional aspects of mental health, promoting balance and long-term stability. With consistent monitoring and open communication, we help you find the right dosage and medication type while minimizing side effects and ensuring that your treatment supports your daily life and personal growth.

Frequently Asked Questions
01What is medication management in mental health care?
Medication management is a structured process that helps ensure psychiatric medications are prescribed, monitored, and adjusted safely based on an individual’s needs. It typically involves evaluating symptoms, reviewing medical history, tracking side effects, and assessing how well the medication is working over time. This approach supports more effective treatment by making sure medication remains appropriate as a person’s mental health needs change.
02Who can benefit from medication management services?
Medication management may benefit individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, or other mental health conditions that may require medication as part of treatment. It is especially helpful for people who are starting a new prescription, experiencing side effects, or unsure whether their current medication is still effective. Ongoing supervision can help improve safety, consistency, and overall treatment outcomes.
03What happens during a medication management appointment?
During a medication management appointment, a provider reviews your current symptoms, emotional health, medical background, and response to any medications you are taking. The session may also include discussing side effects, dosage concerns, sleep patterns, appetite, and daily functioning. Based on this evaluation, the provider may continue, adjust, or change your treatment plan to better support your mental health and long-term stability.
If you are out of network, you may be reimbursed for a percentage of therapy costs through your health insurance plan. You can call our office to check your OON benefits or check with your provider. When you check with your provider it’s important to ask these questions:
- Do I have out-of-network benefits for out-patient mental health visits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per year are covered?
- What percentage of the session fee is covered?
- What is the procedure for getting reimbursed?
Mindset Psychology will provide you with a superbill at the end of each month so that you can easily and efficiently submit to your provider for reimbursement.
04How often do I need medication management visits?
The frequency of medication management visits depends on your diagnosis, treatment plan, and how stable your symptoms are. Some individuals may need more frequent follow-ups when starting or adjusting medication, while others may only need routine check-ins once their treatment is working well. Regular visits help monitor progress, reduce the risk of complications, and ensure that medication continues to support your overall well-being.
05Is medication management only about prescribing medication?
No, medication management involves much more than simply prescribing medication. It includes monitoring effectiveness, managing side effects, reviewing changes in symptoms, and making informed adjustments when needed. A thoughtful medication management plan also considers a person’s lifestyle, physical health, and therapy goals. This broader approach helps create a more balanced and personalized path to mental wellness rather than relying on medication alone.
06Can medication management be combined with therapy?
Yes, medication management is often most effective when combined with therapy. While medication may help reduce symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or mood instability, therapy can help individuals understand patterns, build coping skills, and address underlying emotional concerns. A combined approach often provides more comprehensive support, allowing treatment to focus on both symptom relief and long-term mental and emotional growth.
